METASTREAM
John Crane’s Metastream® L Series range of membrane (disc) couplings are specifically designed to provide a cost-effective solution for demanding industrial applications. They are metallic membrane couplings that incorporate industry leading scalloped, stainless steel, flexible membranes. The membranes are supplied in a pre-assembled pack which helps reduce installation issues and ensures you have the correct number of membranes installed to keep your equipment running smoothly. Scalloped hub boss and specially designed drive bolting ensure the coupling selected is the ideal size for your application. The coupling provides a strong level of angular, lateral and axial misalignment.
John Crane’s Metastream TSR/TLR Series of close-coupled membrane (disc) couplings are designed with an axially split spacer to facilitate in field repair without moving associated equipment, even on a short shaft separation. They are metallic membrane couplings that incorporate industry leading scalloped, stainless steel, flexible membranes. They use the same technology used on the T Series couplings that meet API 610 (ISO 13709) and ISO 14691 standards. With an excellent power to weight ratio and fit-and-forget reliability, these couplings are ideally suited for your equipment with short shaft separations. The TSR is a six-link design for smaller power requirements, and the TLR is an eight-link design for larger power requirements. The hubs on this design can be flipped, allowing for different shaft separations to be accommodated with the same parts. The coupling provides a strong level of angular, lateral and axial misalignment, while maintaining a high level of balance integrity. An option for spark resistance is available.
John Crane’s Metastream® TDC/TSC/TLC Series are metallic membrane (disc) couplings that incorporate industry leading scalloped, stainless steel, flexible membranes with imperial flange hardware. They are specifically designed to meet the API 610 (ISO 13709) and ISO 14691 standards. With an excellent power to weight ratio and fit-and-forget reliability, these couplings are ideally suited for your API equipment. The TDC is a four-link design for lower power requirements, the TSC is a six-link design for medium power requirements, and the TLC is an eight-link design for larger power requirements. Torque is transmitted and misalignment accommodated through two sets of membranes, separated by a spacer element, and protected by two guard rings in a pre-assembled transmission unit. The transmission unit design means a replacement unit can be easily dropped between your equipment to ensure it is up and running as quickly as possible. The coupling provides a strong level of angular, lateral and axial misalignment, while maintaining a high level of balance integrity. Spark resistance, electrical insulation, limited end float, axial adjustment shims and torque limiting options are available.
The A Series design is compact and fully conforms with ATEX, ANSI and ISO requirements. The design can be supplied in close coupled, spacer and dual spacer versions to cover your equipment needs. The close coupled hubs and spacers have six or eight teeth on one end. All spacers and hubs are all made using high grade carbon steel. The split insert, which is made of specially compounded urethane, fits over the hub / spacer teeth. The retaining ring is made of steel and is located with two setscrews. Bolts are supplied with the spacer shaft hubs and a specially formed thread is used in the spacer piece to lock and retain bolts in place during operation without the need for any other locking mechanism.
With John Crane’s Metastream® MOD Series coupling range, the torque is transmitted through a pre-assembled pack with a built-in anti-fly feature to help protect your equipment. The coupling provides a strong level of angular, lateral and axial misalignment, while maintaining a high level of balance integrity. In the unlikely event of membrane (disc) failure due to a torque overload or excessive misalignment, the coupling will disconnect the drive, permitting the driven machine to safely come to rest without further damage to the equipment. This series has two diaphragms built into a single pre-assembled pack which allows it to be used on four bearing applications with short shaft separations. The pre-assembled pack is available in numerous material combinations, including a spark resistant option.
